Our NGO since the first days of the war, we had volunteers in two of the border crossings (Sighet and Siret) between Romania and Ukraine.
What did the 15 volunteers manage to do in the first 10 days of the war?
They covered a total of 55,760 km. The daily average over the 10 days was 372 km for each of the 15 volunteers. They transported 290 families (860 refugees, including 570 children) from the border to various Romanian towns. We thank the volunteers: Marius, Alin, Cristi, Mihai, Ionel, Eugen Mihaela, Ioana, Sorana, Călin, Mihăiță, Claudiu, Sorin, Emil and Tudor. You were more than special!
At the initiative of the employees of the partner company, an online donation campaign was started, a campaign strictly dedicated to the employees of this company and their colleagues from all over the world. This donation campaign dedicated to the company’s employees was carried out on our own online donation platform You4Edu.
It is a campaign started around March 1, 2022 and in about 3 months they have donated over 7,000 euros From the first donations medicines were purchased which were donated to the Red Cross and transported by them directly to Ukraine along with other products donated by the company.
With the difference in donated funds, the costs of a special transport of medicines totaling 65,000 euros were covered – see details in the next section.
Employees from any company can initiate a donation campaign dedicated to them on our You4Edu.ro donation platform.
Together with three other NGOs, we purchased and transported directly to Ukraine a batch of medicines worth 65,000 euros.
It was an action with great emotions, there were many moments when we were overwhelmed (*). Finally, after quite a few twists and turns, the drugs made it to the hub where they were supposed to go. For objective reasons we cannot go into too many details about this action.
(*) Unfortunately, we also had the misfortune to break down, in the Republic of Moldova, the truck with which the medicines were transported. The excitement of finding a new truck (on a Sunday) willing to cross into Ukraine was very high, even higher than identifying in less than an hour the necessary money (3,200 euros) to pay the new carrier and the payment it had to be done urgently (thanks to Ioana M. for the help).
(*) The purchase of these medicines, even if we were four NGOs, meant a very big financial effort. We have been and are lucky with partners that allow us to cover the unpaid amounts up to this point. We are four relatively small NGOs with no experience in such actions.
Together with several dozen other NGOs from Oradea, we were involved in the administration of the Bihor Refugee Reception and Assistance Center.
Some of the figures for 60 days of operation: Almost 2,000 refugees crossed the threshold of the Center (45% minors), MEDICAL – More than 600 people requested medical advice, more than 300 volunteers allocated more than 4,000 hours of volunteering respectively were granted many tons of non-perishable food to refugees.
We thank our volunteers, volunteers from partner NGOs and everyone involved.
We were honored to be part of this group of NGOs!
Starting from March 2022, we financially support a number of 69 families, consisting of as many mothers, 43 grandparents and 160 children. We give them 100 euros per adult and 30 euros per child (*) each month, totaling approximately 16,000 euros per month.
(*) We are glad that we were able to start this project, all the more so since the Romanian state, even if it initially announced that it would grant allowances to minors, refugees from Ukraine, seems to have changed its mind and no longer grants these allowances. Phew!
We intend to continue to provide this financial support in the coming months as well.
You4Peace is a platform dedicated to peace, a platform on which we invite all children and youth of the world to publish manifesto works for peace.
The voice of children and young people must be heard. Their voice matters and should matter. We aim to make You4Peace the largest online exhibition dedicated to peace.
At the same time, through the You4Peace platform, we aim to award prizes and as much aid as possible to children and young people in Ukraine, to those who will publish You4Peace works, but not only to them.
Even if it is a project dedicated to peace, we know that we can be attacked (h.a.c.k.i.n.g) by friendly attackers of … the aggressor state.
We are in a continuous process to better secure the platform.
