What have we managed to do since the beginning of the crisis in Ukraine?

The first days of war

From the first days of war, we had volunteers in two of the three border crossings (Sighet and Siret) between Romania and Ukraine.

What did those 15 volunteers manage to do in the first 10 days of war?

# along the way, they traveled a total of 55.760 km, # the daily average in these 10 days for each of the volunteers was 372 km. # they transported from the border to different places from Romania a number of 290 families (860 including 570 children)

We thank our volunteers: Marius, Alin, Cristi, Mihai, Ionel, Eugen, Mihaela, Ioana, Sorana, Calin, Mihaita, Claudiu, Sorin , Emil and Tudor. You were more than special!

Many thanks to the donors and sponsors!

Donation of meds through our partnership with Ebmpapst & Red Cross

At the initiative of the employees of Ebmpapst Romania, an online donation campaign was launched, a campaign dedicated to them and their colleagues from all over the world. This donation campaign dedicated to Ebmpapst’s employees was run on our own online donation platform You4Edu.

It is a campaign which was launched during March 1 2022 and in almost 3 months, they have donated more than 7.000 euros (35.000 lei). From the first donations( approx. 17.000 lei), meds were purchased and donated to Red Cross, which later were transported directly in Ukraine along with other products donated by Ebmpapst.

With the difference of donated funds, the costs of purchasing the meds was partially covered in the total amount of 65,000 euros – see details in the next section.

Meds worth 65.000 euros

Together with other 3 NGOs, we purchased and directly transported in Ukraine, a medicine lot worth 65.000 euros

It was an action with great emotions, there were many moments when we were overwhelmed (*). In the end, after quite a few adventures, the meds arrived at the hub where they were supposed to arrive. For objective reasons we cannot go into too much detail about this action.

(*) Unfortunately, we also had the misfortune to damage, in the Republic of Moldova, the truck which was carrying the medicines. The emotions we were going through while trying to find a new truck willing to go to Ukraine were really intense, more intense than those caused by identifying in less than an hour the money needed to pay the new carrier, especially since it was a Sunday and the payment had to be made urgently.

(*) The purchase of these medicines, even if we were four NGOs, meant a great financial effort. We were and still are really lucky with our partners that allow us to cover over time the amounts that haven’t been paid so far. We are four relatively small and unexperienced NGOs in such actions.

Bihor Refugee Reception and Assistance Center

Bihor pentru Ucraina

Together with other tens of NGOs, we were involved in administrating Bihor Refugee Reception and Assistance Center.

Some of the statistics available for the first 60 days of functioning: Almost 2000 refugees crossed the threshold of the Center(45% minors), MEDICAL – over 600 people sought medical attention, over 300 people volunteered for more than 4.000 hours and have given the refugees lots of tons of non-perishable food.

In this project we also benefited from the time that the Ebmpapst’s employees allocated by volunteering at this center. Thank you: Nicu, Adela, Mihaela, Dana and all those without whom this center was very difficult to function.

We were honoured to be a part of this group of NGOs.

We financially support a number of 69 refugee families.

Since March, we have been financially supporting a number of 69 families, consisting of as many mothers, 43 grandmothers and 160 children. We give them 100 euros/adult per month and 30 euros/child per month (*), summing approximately 16,000 euros per month.

(*) We are glad that we managed to start this project, especially since the Romanian state, even if it initially announced that it will grant allowances to minors, refugees from Ukraine, it seems that it has changed its mind and these allowances are no longer granted. Offf!

On June 1, we launched the You4Peace platform.

You4Peace is a platform dedicated to peace, a platform on which we invite all children and young people from all over the world to publish manifest works for peace.

The voice of children and young people must be heard. Their voice matters and must matter. We aim for You4Peace to become the largest online exhibition dedicated to peace.

At the same time, through the You4Peace platform, we aim to give awards and as much help as possible to children and young people in Ukraine, (to those ones who will publish You4Peace works) but not only to them.

You4Peace is up and running right now, even though we have decided not to advertise it much for the time being, until we make sure that we take all the necessary measures to NOT risk being hacked by attackers, friends of … the aggressor state. We are in the process of securing the platform.
